2006 Pinot Gris
Our 2006 Pinot Gris is the second release of this varietal wine from Domaine Meriwether. Winemaker Ray Walsh has again produced a superb example of what some consider to be the new benchmark Pinot Gris of Oregon.
The 2006 suggests lush tropical flavors with a hint of melon. A bit brighter acidity than our highly successful 2005, this wine will pair very well with a variety of food. Like our other wines, this 2006 Pinot Gris has benefited from additional bottle aging in our cellar prior to release. This has resulted in a nice, full mouth feel and a complete wine drinking experience from entry to finish.
BLEND: 100% Willamette Valley Pinot Gris from northern valley vineyards.
FERMENTATON: Slow, cool soak in stainless steel containers
AGING: 11 months on the lees in temperature controlled, stainless steel tanks.
WINEMAKER’S NOTES: The fruit for this 2006 Pinot Gris was lovely. It came in clean and at great numbers. When the raw materials are this nice, it is a treat to work with. The resulting wine represents the finest example of a reserve Oregon Pinot Gris from the Northern Willamette Valley.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Chill well. This wine is a nice accompaniment to salads and pastas and will pair fabulously with almost any seafood. However, if you prefer your Pinot Gris on its own as a sipper, this ones for you.
